Facilitator

Hours: 3-5 per week per group

Salary: $20/hour

Equity Kids creates racially and culturally diverse learning communities where children build cross-racial friendships while exploring race and culture.

We are currently seeking part-time facilitators for workshops being conducted in Austin, TX and in Santa Fe, NM.

Job Summary

Equity Kids hosts recurring groups and one-time workshops for 4 & 5-year-olds, 3rd-5th graders, and middle schoolers. The Facilitator will co-lead one or all of these groups depending on their qualifications, availability, and program needs. A facilitation guide is provided for each session. Each Facilitator will receive 1 week of training prior to beginning and will be supported by our Program Director throughout the program. 

Roles & Duties

  • Prepare for groups individually and with co-facilitator

  • Set up for groups

  • Co-lead hour-long groups

  • Complete program records, track attendance, administer evaluations 

  • Complete a short debrief document after each session 

  • Communicate with Program Director about group progress 

Schedule Commitment

This is a part-time position, and we anticipate a time commitment of 3-5 hours a week for each group you facilitate.

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities

  • Clear, personal alignment with the mission of Equity Kids 

  • Experience working with children 

  • Comfortable leading a racially diverse group and discussing racial and social issues 

  • Familiarity with Google products (preferred) 

  • Knowledge of social inequity issues 

  • Ability to prompt sensitive conversations empathetically 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • B.A. in sociology, child development, or education a plus. 

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old 

  • Background check 

  • Access to a laptop computer 

  • Reliable transportation

  • Able to carry and set up program materials 

Bilingual skills in English and Spanish a plus.

Social Media Internship

Hours: 2-4 per week

Salary: Unpaid Volunteer Position

Mission: Equity Kids explores ways of rejecting racism to make racial injustice a thing of the past. We accomplish this by creating racially and culturally diverse learning communities where children build cross-racial friendships while exploring race and culture. We provide programs for children 4 years old through middle school.

Internship Summary

The social media intern will assist in the management of Equity Kids social media accounts, as well as researching trends and helping to implement new social media strategies. The intern will:

  • Generate, edit, publish and share engaging content weekly (e.g. original text, photos, videos and news) that reflect Equity Kids’ values creatively and consistently

  • Design and implement social media strategy to align with Equity Kids’ goals 

  • Identify potential program partners and donors based on social media engagement

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest digital technologies and social media trends

  • Research current benchmark trends and audience preferences 

  • Oversee social media accounts’ design (e.g. Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures) 

  • Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness

  • Explore and implement ways to increase our followers

The Ideal Person Has:

  • Comfort and experience with social media content creation

  • Strategic, goal-oriented thinker

  • Strong written communication skills and ability to adapt tone for different platforms

  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva or similar tools)

  • Understanding of social media trends and best practices

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Comfort engaging respectfully in conversations around equity, education, & social issues

  • Passion for youth development, education, and community engagement

  • Preferred but not required:

    • Experience in nonprofit communications

    • Familiarity with analytics tools and performance tracking

    • Experience supporting fundraising or advocacy campaigns

    • Experience with social media advertising

    • Experience with social media calendaring and/or management tools (such as Buffer, Hootsuite, Metricool, etc.)
